Chicago’s Family Pizzeria

With so many pizza restaurants in Chicago, it can be hard to stand out. A pizza company needs to be more than a good slice. Luckily for Aurelio’s, from the outset in 1954, a good pizza has always just been the start. Since then, their slogan “Quality products, community involvement, and family tradition” has been the fundamental reason as to why Aurelio’s is so successful.  Let’s take a look at what each of those things means to Aurelio’s:

• Quality Products - Crafting a quality pie has always been the goal, even going back to the beginning days when there was only one pizza oven and four tables to eat at. Even though founder Joe Aurelio would only sell six or seven pizzas a day, he would meticulously sculpt each pizza to be better than the one before. Soon Aurelio’s became known around Chicago for their fresh dough and homemade Italian sausage.
• Community Involvement - Aurelio’s has always had a focus on the community. This focus started in the store but eventually branched out into the entire Chicago area. It started back with Joe Aurelio walking around the restaurant talking to each and every customer. Everyone felt like they personally knew Joe, and this is where the slogan “Tell ‘em Joe sent me!” came from.  Even as the franchise expanded, Aurelio’s continually wanted to give back and help the community. In more recent history, Aurelio’s continues to play a role in the community. Whether it's donating to local hospitals, sponsoring local races, cleaning up beaches, or hosting cancer fundraisers, Aurelio’s continually tries to find ways to help the community.
• Family Tradition - Family has always played a huge role, and we aren’t even talking about the family famous thin crust pizza recipe or Mama Aurelio’s famous Spinach Calabrese recipe!  Aurelio’s has always been a family run business. There have only been two owners, Joe Aurelio and his son, Joe Aurelio!
